TPO-22 - Integrated Writing Task Ethanol fuel, made from plants such as corn and sugar cane, has been advocated by some people as an alternative to gasoline in the United States. However, many critics argue that ethanol is not a good replacement for gasol

The article states that Ethonel gas that made from plants are not effective and provides three reasons for supports. However, the professor states that using Ethanol gas is beneficial and none of these reasons are convinceable and refutes each of the author’s reasons.
First, the reading says when Ethonel gas burn, it releases carbon dioxide that leads to global warming. This gas doesn’t protect the atmosphere. The professor refutes this point by explaining that Ethanol gas is made from plants and growing plants lead to reducing carbon dioxide because plants consume carbon dioxide.
Second, the article posits that using plants like corn for producing Ethanol gas reduce the amount of food that is eaten by animals. However, the professor says that it is possible to use other plants for producing Ethanol gas that is not eaten by animals. So, producing this gas doesn’t have any impacts on the animal’s food.
Third, the reading claims that producing this gas is costly. The price of this gas is as the same as fossil fuel and this is because of the help of governments. If a government doesn’t give any help, the price of it will be higher than now. The professor opposites this point by saying that when the amount of production rise, the price will drop to 50%. As a result production of this gas is beneficial.
