Moreover, the island and other places have yellow cedar but there is no bears on the island. However, the cedar also declined there. So, the yellow cedar declined with or without bears.
Lastly, the article states that the climate changes caused decline in cedar population. This is because the low temperature damaged the cedar roots. Nevertheless, the professor questions this idea by pointing out that they forgot one fact that the cedar trees also died at the lower elevation which is considered more warmer. Furthermore, the freezing weather could cause damage at cedar roots, but we should found more dead cedar at higher elevation. In fact, there is more cedar died at lower elevation. So. cedar is already sensitive.
