The reading is discussing the discovery of T. Rex actual tissues found in a 70-million-year-old fossil leg of the dinosaur which was consciously broke open. The significance of this achievement highlites because of the difficulty to examine animal tissues found in fossils. However, professor so not believe with the phenomenon, providing explanations to his theory.
Firstly, the passage states that in the break of fossil bone was found branching channels looking soft material, which probably might be blood vessels. But according to professor’s opinion, these “vessels” more likely is just residue of bacteria colonies appeared naturally in residue.
Secondly, the article says that microscopic researches of the bone structure found out the presence of spheres, which remind blood cells. As research result says, these objects had dark red centers and it contains iron-a material, which role is to carry oxygen to tissues. Though, the professor’s point of view claims that the red traces of iron possibly are pieces of reddish mineral.
Thirdly, from the reading we learn that the co-collagen was detected in the bone of the dinosaur. On the other hand, from the professor’s speech we found out that collagen just can not exist more than 100000 years, so the protein which was found in the bone of 70-million-year-old fossil might just came from another source.
