TPO 29

In this set of materials, the reading passage and the lecturer discuss the living pattern of large numbers of the dinosaur of fossils have been discovered in deposits on Alaska. On that time, the weather condition was unhospitable than today, so the researchers suggested that these animals had to migrate to a warmer place. Although the reading provides three theories about the migration of Edmontosaurus, the speaker refutes these ideas through a number of reasons which I will describe in this report.

First, the reading passage argues that Edmontosaurs only feed on certain plants. During winter no plats were growing so that they had to migrate for finding food. The lecturer, in contrast, rejects this by claiming that the summer in the North Slope was warmer than today, and also the sun was up in the sky for 24 hours in the summer period. Furthermore, the sunshine was available all day, so it made the favourable condition for growing plants. In the winter, a lot of dead plants were available for animals that they used them as food. So, they did not have to migrate to finding food.

Furthermore, unlike the passage which states that the fossils of Edmontosaurus show that they live as herbs, so they were able to migrate, the professor argues that living a herb does not mean they migrate. The animals live as a herb for another purpose such as extra protection. For example, in this age, elke live as a herb, but the day doesn't migrate.

Finally, although the reading passage says that the Edmontosaurus were able to move in a suitable speed to migrate. The speaker disagrees by mentioning that it is true that the adult animals were able to move fast as the same as the locomotive power. But, juniors were not moved fast as the same as adult. Moreover, adult animals could not leave their children and they migrate. Because the junior ere not able to live alone, and they died.
