The reading and lecture both discuss the hypothesis of edmontosaurus migration to the south slope through the winter time. While the reading provides three explanations to support this migration, the professor refutes, saying none of these claims are convincing.

Firstly, the reading avers that during the winter time there was not plants for edmontosaurs to survive. So, they migrated to the warmer area to fine food. On the other hand, the professor questions this notion by saying that edmontosurus did not have to migrate to search about food. long time ago, the weather was so warm and the sun was twenty hours per day during the summer. So, there was plenty of plants and vegetation as a good source of food supply. As a result, if the plants died during the winter time, edmontosaurus still had a lot of vegetation as enough source of nutrition available.

Secondly, the article states that they discovered skeleton of these animals that shows that endomontosusrs were living in herds. So, they might migrated easy to the south area. However, the professor rejects this idea by pointing out that living in herds does not mean that they have to migrate. Nevertheless, they might live in herds for different reasons. For instance, they can protect themselves from any predators. For example, Elka were living in herds, but they did not migrate.

Lastly, the article mentions that edmontosaurus were so fast animals and this ability could help them to migrate. Nevertheless, the professor contradicts this point by explaining that young edmontosaurus that called juvinlle could not travel Long distance. In addition, edmontosaurs can not live juvinlle behind and juvinlle could not live alone. Consequently, they stayed together in the winter time.
