TPO-29 - Integrated Writing Task Large numbers of dinosaur fossils have been discovered in deposits on Alaska's North Slope, a region that today experiences an extremely cold, arctic climate. One hundred million years ago, when those dinosaurs were alive,

The reading and lecture both discuss the hypothesis of edimontosaurus migration to the north slope in winter. While the reading states three reasons to support that migration, the professor refutes, saying none of these claims are convincing.

Firstly, the reading avers that edmontosaurus migrate to noth in winter looking for food supply. This is because no plants due to the cold weather in winter. On the other hand, the professor argues this notion by saying that edomontosaurus do not have to travel to find food. In fact, at summer the weather is so warm and there are many palnts can grow easily because the sunshine stays for tweenty four hours. So, the warm temprature provides good condition for plants to grow. Although these plants die at winter, the endmontosaurs can survive on these died plants. As a result, there is no need for these animals to move in winter.

In addition, the reading shows that endmontosaurs live in herds that help them to manage the migration. However, the professor refutes this idea by explaning that herd does not mean migration. Some animals used herds for other reasons. For example, some animals use herds for protection from other preditors. For instance, rosevillac lives in west United States in herds but they did not migrate.

Lastly, the article mentions that edmontosaur can migrate for long distance and they can run so fast. Nevertheless, the professor questions this idea by pointing out that the young endomontosaurs are not capable to migrate for long distance and they move so slow. Furthermore, the adult endmontosaurs cannot leave the young jonville to live alone. Consequently, the endmonsaurs do not migrate.
