TPO-32 - Integrated Writing Task Starting in the 1960s and continuing until the 1980s, sailors in Russian submarines patrolling the North Alantic and Arctic Ocean would occasionally hear strange sounds. These underwater noises reminded the submarine crews

Based on the reading material, it is stated that there are 3 viable hypotheses regarding the reason of the odd sounds which were heard by Russian submarines. However, the lecturer finds this idea bereft of sufficient reasoning and presents some ideas to the contrary.
Initially, the author argued that the source of these odd sounds were orca whales, which make sounds when they are trying to attract a male. That being said, the lecturer repudiated this idea by clarifying that this theory was plausible at first, but it was highly unlikely later owing to the fact that orca whales live near the surface of the ocean, whereas Russian submarines were deep in the water. Also, if the source of these bizarre noises was orca whale and they were so close to the submarines to be heard, they must have been detected by the sonar.
Another point mentioned by the author was that giant squids perhaps were the cause of these sounds and they were not detected by the sonar owing to the fact that they have soft bodies with no skeleton. However, the lecturer rejected this one too by stating that if the reason of these bizarre sounds was giant squids, they must be heard now, whereas it is stated that these sounds were heard for the first time in the 1960s and were reported in the 1980s and after that they were not heard anymore. However, giant squids are still living in the oceans.
The final point advanced in the reading passage was that some foreign submarines produced these odd sounds and they were not registered on sonar because they were using a kind of technology in order to be undetectable by sonar. Yet again, the professor casted doubt on this idea. She said that the foreign submarines cannot be the reason of these sounds owing to the fact that they are using high-tech devices in order to move fast without making any noises and their engines are very quiet in order to be undetectable by other submarines.
