TPO 37 Integrated writing

The lecture and the reading both discuss a turtle excluder device (TED). While the reading states that a TED does not have a key role to prevent turtle population against the shrimp-fishing boats, the lecture refutes each f the author's reason.
First of all, the reading claims that the number of turtles that get trapped each month is rarely. However, the lecture argues that a large amount of the shrimp operates in the ocean in the United State which by increasing the number of the shrimp, the number of the turtle that get trapped will increase. The professor states that the turtle's population is very low and a little change in the population will be a big decrease.
In addition, The reading makes the arguments that this method will much effective if there is a time limit. The lecture counters the point by stating the time limit will influence if the government can enforce the shrimp to obey the law. According to the professor, the government cannot check the shrimp's activity in the ocean, the time limit cannot be more effective.
Ultimately, the reading passage argues that TEDs are not proper for the larger species of the turtle. The lecture refutes this claim by pointing out that the size of the TED is not static and also produce for larger species. Moreover, the professor says the size of some TEDs can modify easily according to the turtle's size.
