TPO 40

The reading passage claims that it would be impossible for human beings to stay on Venus owing to the extreme and unfavorable conditions, which could not support life. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.

First, the author embraces the idea that atmospheric pressure on Venus is extremely severe than earth and human beings might crush as well as spacecraft, which crashed during the previous landing. In contrast, the lecturer underlines the idea that scientists can establish a station 50 kilometers above the surface because the pressure at this level is equal to the earth.

The author also asserts that there is no water, oxygen, nitrogen and other useful materials for living on Venus and they have to be imported, which need a hoard of money. Conversely, the professor brings up the idea that Venus contains different compounds, so, these compounds could be used by the chemical process to produce water, oxygen and other necessary materials.

Finally, as set forth by the author there are thick clouds on Venus, which block sunlight. So, without sunlight and solar panels hardly can humans produce electricity. On the contrary, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that 50 kilometers above the surface clouds are not thick enough to inhibit sunlight. Moreover, reflected sunlight on Venus could be used by installing a solar panel and easily produce electricity.

Having scrutinized all the ideas, a logical conclusion that can be drawn is that there are pieces of evidence having been ignored by the author while the presence of which could strengthen the author's claim.
