The reading passage states that the conditions on Venus are too extreme and inhospitable to maintain a human presence, whereas the professor deems that it is possible for man to live in Venus.
Firstly, the author insists that the atmosphere pressure at Venus' surface is much greater compare to earth's surface, and such a high pressure will crush everything human might land on it. The professor, however, argues that we can establish station floating in Venus' atmosphere fifteen kilometers above its surface where the pressure will be much lower than surface and will be safe to human.
Secondly, the reading says that there are no reservoirs in Venus' surface and only a small portion of oxygen and water vapor in air. And it is impractical to supply these things from earth. In contrast, the speaker reckons that Venus has many chemical compounds, such as carbon dioxide, and human can obtain oxygen and vapor water from chemical process by using these compounds.
Lastly, the reading states that only a little light from sun can reach the surface of Venus due to its thick cloud which fill the atmosphere, so it is impossible to use solar energy to generate enough power for their machines and equipment. On the contrary, the professor points out that the cloud is not very thick in station's position which is fifteen kilometers above the surface. In addition, station can use the light reflected below and above, so there are adequate energy to power machines and equipment.
