TPO 42-glass danger for birds

The lecture and the passage discuss some solutions to prevent birds from the danger of the glasses building. Although the passage claims that there are three ways to avoid birds to injure, the speaker refutes these ideas through a number of reasons which will be described in this report.

First of all, the passage points out that by using some specific glasses which are transparent only from the inside of the building, the other side could be a barrier for birds' path. The speaker, in contrast, rejects this by claiming that the one-way glasses reflex the outside just like a mirror which in turn could be as bad as regular glasses due to the reason that birds could not recognize themseleves in mirrors. As a result, these glasses could reflect either sky or trees; thus, the birds might fly to them.

Furthermore, unlike the passage which states that glasses with painted design could inhibit birds from fly through the windows, the speaker argues that birds would percieve the unpainted segment on the windowsa as open holes. So, the unpainted parts should be very small which in turn caused the darkness for the people inside of the buildings. Therefore, this solution would not be practical.

Finally, although the passage says that by exploiting some equippments providing magnetic fields which directs birds to right path, the professor disagrees by mentioning that it is true that birds are using magnetic fields to travel. However, they utilize these magnetic fields for long distances like traveling from a cold country to a warmer one. He also states that in short distances like moving from one city to another one, the birds use their eyes to find their pathes. Then, this idea would not be effective.
