According to the passage, it is author conviction that some methods which are mentioned in the passage prevent birds from damage. However, the professor casts doubt on this claim and refuses all the points by providing some evidence which will be explained in the following paragraphs.
First, the reading states that one-way glass form a solid barrier for birds, therefore, the birds would not fly through the window. In the opposition, the professor implies that birds do not understand the reflection. He adds that the one-way glass is like a mirror and reflects materials like trees and sky, as a result, birds which think the reflect is a real sky or tree fly through the window, hence, it would harm them.
Second, the passage asserts that painting colorful line on window glass would solve this problem as it helps birds prevent from flying through windows by seeing that painting. Also this painting would not cause any problem for people inside the room for seeing outside. Conversely, the speaker mentions that birds would consider the opening in the painting as a hole which they can fly through it. He also explains that making the holes small enough for preventing birds from damage would make the room dark for people.
Third, the writer indicates that using magnetic field will be a solution because the birds have an ability to sense magnetic fields. On the contrast, the professor refuses this claim by declaring that birds just use this ability for long distance like their migration to other places, thus, the birds do not use it in the city for short trip.
