The reading and the lecture are both about use of electronic recording of medical records instead paper-based records. While the passage states that there are several benefit to use and save electronic datasets the lecture contradicts these clam and provides evidence to the contrary.
First, the author argues that electronic medical records can decrease the cost because paper records need to more space for saving and also need expences to fax and transport. Conversely, the lecturer brings the idea that doctors adopting with electronic records, have to save paper record as backup version and still pay for the saving. So this is not convince reason to use electronic records.
Second, the reading passage holds the view that electronic records can prevent the mistake causing by poor handwrite, human error and also error in registerating data. In contrast the professor underlines the idea that increasing the use of electronic records cannot remove the human faults. This is because, most doctor still use paper records and take note by hand. Besides, the stuff register the electronic form from the handwrite data. Thus, in this way, human error still remain.
Furthermore, according to the reading passag raising the use of electronic patient's records make a brillient dataset for the researchers and are available from any research location. While, the lecture makes it clear that researchers need to a lot of permision to access these datasets and also they need to the patient's permition. Besides, in some cases patients block the use of their medical records.
