TPO 48 In recent years, many frog species around the world have declined in numbers or even gone extinct due to changes in their environment. These population declines and extinctions have serious consequences for the ecosystems in which frogs live; for example, frogs help play a role in protecting humans by eating disease-carrying insects. Several methods have been proposed to solve the problem of declining frog populations.

The lecture is mainly about the extinction of the frog's population in the world. The author of the reading states three ways to solve the problem of declining frog populations. The lecture challenges the claim made by the author by considering the ways shown by the author of reading as impractical and counter each of them individually. she is of the opinion that solutions suggested by the author of the reading are impractical and cannot implemented in real world.

To begin with, the author suggest that frogs are being harmed by the pesticides. The article mentions that laws should be made to prohibit the using of harmful chemicals in the farms . this specific argument is challenged by the lecture. she claims that this solution is not practical and fair. pesticides are used by the farmers to decrease crop losses and to be competitive in the market. If the they are prohibited then it will be severe unfair to farmers of that area and will cut their yield.

Secondly, the writer suggest that because of the fungal infection death is observed of the frogs. fungal infection causes the dehydration for the frogs. The lecture however rebuts the claim by mentioning that protecting from the fungal infection is not practical and very expensive . she elaborates it by saying that for doing this each and every frog should be captured and treated individually for the infection which is quite unrealistic. And by this it will not prevent offsprings from the infection they need to be treated separately too.

Finally the author posits that natural habitats are being exploited because of the human activities. Moreover in article it is stated that as most of frog species lay egg in water it is difficult for them to lay eggs. In contrast lecturer's position is that global warming is the biggest reason for the draining of the wetlands not only the human activities. But global warming cannot be stopped as it damage which cannot be reversed back.
