The Reading asserts that sending humans to Mars is impossible because of three reasons.The lecture, however, finds this idea dobious and casts doubt on the reasons proposed by the reading passage.
The author argues that travelling to mars takes at least two years so the astronauts may finish food supplies and water and even oxygen. Conversely, the lecture brings up the idea that they can grow plants on water instead of soil therefore they can cultivate food crop and by recycling waste water they can produce fresh water, besides plants absorb CO2 and release oxygen.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that the zero gravity environment may have negative impact on humans. On the contrary, The professor underlines the fact that the astronauts have been learnt to have safety management of their bodies. For instance they can overcome decreasing muscle mass by regular exercise and use vitamins in order to do not have low bone density.
Finally, it is stated in the reading passage that astronauts would be exposed to dangerous levels of radiation. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that the sun does not have dangerous radiations all the time and it emits this particles occasionally so they can equip the spaceship by small shelter with light weight and they use this shelter only in dangerous circumstances until the danger pass.
