Essay topics:

TPO 54- integrated the lake's water is salty. the problem can be diminished by: directly removing the salt, diluting the salt with ocean's water, constructing separation walls in the lake.

The article asserts that due to the evaporation of a lake's water (The Salton Sea), it is gradually becoming more salty and provides three theories for reversing this phenomenon. The professor, on the other hand, opposes all the author's ideas and claims that these solutions are not realistic and practical. In the following, her explanations, used to shed light on this controversial argument, will be discussed thoroughly.

First of all, the reading says that the salt can be directly removed from the water thanks to special facilities. Although the professor accepts that this process might reduce salinity, she declares that it is followed by serious problems. As water must be pumped to these facilities, it evaporates inevitably; therefore, other solid materials will remain in the place. These substances can dissolve in water which poses other critical healthy risks. Moreover, some of these chemicals are toxic, such as Sellenium, which can be harmful for humans if they breathe it.

Secondly, the passage suggests that ocean's water can be added to the lake in order to dilute its salt. The educator, however, rejects this presumption, mainly because she believes that this process requires the construction of pipe lines and canals which needs scores of financial resources. As this convey is about 100 kilometers, the construction of this long distance is not economical and feasible.

Tertiary, the essay proposes that by building partitions in the lake, the lake's salinity can be controlled. The lecturer overthrows this suggestion insomuch as she thinks that this is not a long-term solution. As the lake is located on a high geological active site, it is prone to intense earth-related activities like earth quakes. Provided that these major natural disasters occur, the walls used to seperate the lake will collapse, and water from high salty parts will go to low salty main sectors.
