TPO32#1

In the lecture, the professor talked about likely cause of the strange sounds "quackers". Disputing the passage's arguments that there are three possible theories, she cited several pieces of evidence of showing that the hypotheses are highly impossible.

First, she said that the quackers were not from the ocra whales, there were two reasons. For one thing, ocra whales lived on the surface of marine; however, the sounds were from the deep ocean. second, they should be detected by sonar, if there were a group of ocra whale. This evidence contradicts the claim in the passage that orcas may make the sounds.

Second, the professor said the giant squids were last detected in the 1930s. It was rare that they suddenly appeared after thirty years and made the sounds until the 1980s.

Third, the professor dismissed the theory in the passage that the sounds were made by another country's submarines. she cited the evidence of the changing direction of the sounds indicating they were not from submarines. Moreover, the noise from submarines' engines was the same, even from different countries. And, the noise was unlike quackers.
