The shortened workweek would increase company profits because employees would feel more rested and alert, and as a result, they would make fewer costly errors in their work. Hiring morestaff to ensure that the same amount of work would be accomplished would not result in additional payroll costs because four-day employees would only be paid 80 percent of the normal rate. In the end, companies would have fewer overworked and error-prone employees for the same money, which would increase company profits. For the country as a whole, one of the primary benefits of offering this option to employees is that it would reduce unemployment rates. If many full-time employees started working fewer hours, some of their workload would have to be shifted to others. Thus, for every four employees who went on an 80 percent week, a new employee could be hired at the 80 percent rate. Finally, the option of a four-day workweek would be better for individual employees. Employees who could afford a lower salary in exchange for more free time could improve the quality of their lives by spending the extra time with their families, pursuing private interests, or enjoying leisure activities

As a result, he states that they will make fewer mistakes and paying 80 percent of the staffs' normal pay will affect positively to their businesses' economy. The point is challenged by the lecturer. she says that training and medical costs are the same as the previous job timeline's product, so it won't influence much their companies' profit. Furthermore, she points out that hiring more employees require more office spaces and it is not a profitable alternative to it.

Secondly, the author suggests that it will significantly reduce the unemployment number because the companies can hire more part-time staff to complete some of the full-time workers' jobs. this argument is rebutted by the lecturer. she elaborates on this by mentioning that if some workers choose to work overtime, their employers have to pay more money. Moreover, she notes that if the companies raise higher their expectations about the amount of productivity of their workers as the previous ones, it will put more burden on their staffs' shoulders to fulfil their companies target.

Finally, the author mentions that if employees spend more time with their family, it will definitely increase their life quality and will give them opportunities to enhance their skills. The lecturer, on the other hand, feels that having excessive free time will harm their productivities and it will reduce their motivation to promote their careers because the companies must offer the higher positions to their overtime workers.
