Voynich manuscript

Essay topics:

Voynich manuscript

The reading and the lecture are both about voynich manuscript. The author feels that there are several theories have been proposed to explain the origin of the voynich manuscript ,because it is completely unknown. The lecturer challenges the claims made by author. he feels that none of the three people mentioned in reading is possibly the author of voynich manuscript.
First, the author argues that manuscript is a genuine work on some scientific or magical objects composed in a complex secret codes. The article mentions that anthony who is a physician and botanist, has been identified as possible author ,because many plants that mentioned in voynich manuscript are same to anthony's book on medicinal plants A little herbals that was published in 1550. this specific argument is challenged by the lecture. he claims that who ever wrote the manuscript is trying to convey information that are so important and powerful that is why they special secret code used and this not fit anthony who was an ordinary physician and scientist and his book not have the original ideas. Additionally, he says that the example of little herbal book which has the description of common plants depend on well known sources it seems unlikely to be the author.
Secondly, the writer suggests that manuscript is really fake and its text has no real meaning. In the article it is said that it has been proposed that kelly a person who extracted money from nobles across the Europe by pretending to have magical powers.he used a made-up alphabet in a completely random order. The lecturer , however, rebuts this by mentioning that kelly is good when he tricks people ,but it is unlikely to make fake manuscript to sell it to wealthy people. he elaborates on this by bringing up the point that the creater took care of this manuscript to make it like real and if he wants to get money it is un necessary to make it complex he just can do it in simple ways as he used to do in his books.
Finally, the author posits that manuscript is actually a modern fake created by Wilfrid M . voynich himself. Moreover, it is stated in the article that . As an antique book dealer, voynich certainly had the knowledge of what old manuscripts should look like and could have created a fake one. Perhaps voynich's plan was to sell the fake as a mysterious old book if he received an attractive offer. In contrast, the lecturer position is that this manuscript was able to be dated by using modern methods of vellum and ink. he notes that if author used vellum pages nowadays he can not use the ink which used 400 years ago so the manuscript done before voynich obtained.
