Ways of bolstering sales
Based on the passage, there are 3 fundamental ways to bolster sales. The lecturer challenges this point, however, by positing that these theories have been called into question after the recent research by Neil Rackham.
For one, the author believes that making many calls will intensify the sales in a massive way. Moreover, with the help of getting involved in many calls salesperson can get more experience. This concept is refuted by the professor, who asserts that a high volume of calls will not prove true for expensive items, on the contrary of cheap ones. Furthermore, it may cause the salesperson to sound less informed.
The second point in the passage encourages calls to people higher in the company because they are in a position to approve the sale; however, Rackham's investigation reveals the same rate of success for all calls.
Finally, the professor disputes the rule that closing early and setting deadlines will generate success. The professor maintains that early conversations will close the deal without deadlines. In short, the old sales principles are not convenient by the new research studies.
