weather or not Venus is a feasible place for a permanent human presence
The reading and the lecture have contradictory opinions about weather or not Venus is a feasible place for a permanent human presence. The author strongly says that Venus is not like a place to such a goal because of its inhospitable condition and provides three reasons for this claim. On the other hand, the lecture adamantly delineates that to meet such an objective is challenging but possible. The speaker asserts that there are some ways to solve the mentioning problems of Venus to have permanent life for humans like having floating stations on Venus atmosphere instead of on its surface.
First and foremost, according to the author of the extract, the high pressure at Venus surface, nearly 90 times greater than the pressures at earth surface, crush everything, so accordingly it is one of the problems of living in Venus surface. Nevertheless, the speaker offset such a seeing issue, since in her opinion by having a station above the surface of Venuss, roughly 50 Km, the pressure can be as equal as of the earth surface without any damage.
The professor in the lecture further mention that human beings can chemically produce water and oxygen from the components of Venus atmosphere like CO2 and sulfuric acid. This declaration refutes the writer implication of how human can have water and oxygen on the Venus, while there are hardly any oxygen or water vapor in Venus's atmosphere.
The text lasting insists that insufficient sunlight that reach Venus's surface bring humans trouble in different aspects of their activities like powering machines. Nonetheless, the professor in the lecture counters this by declaring that such a problem will be disappeared by above noting solution, stationary above the surface of the Venus. He expresses that in above of Venus's surface, not only cloud is not thick at all, so the stationary in those areas can absorb sunlight, but also it brings human station a possibility to absorb the reflected sunlight from the surface of Venus.
