“It is suggested that first- grade teachers should evaluate their students by giving them verbal comments instead of grades, and should not criticize or compare their students in any situation or for any reason” Do you agree or disagree with this suggestion.

When I was in grade 2, my teacher asked: “Which does the traffic light turn on and we can across stress?” I thought we can do that if the vehicles stop and the vehicles stop when the traffic light turns red. So, I said “Red, teacher”. My teacher was angry with me because it was the wrong answer. She said that she didn’t know how I could pass the exam. I felt very upset. Today, it suggested that first-grade teacher should test their students by giving them verbal comments instead of grades, and should not criticize or compare their student in any situation or for any reason. With my experience, I’m in favor of this statement.
To begin with, when teachers assess their students by giving them their opinions instead of scores, children can recognize what their problems are. After that, they can improve themselves and don’t feel pressure because of scores.
Secondly, children have a sensitive soul. If they have low scores they can feel worried or scared, they can think they are stupid. The teachers who criticize or compare their students can make them hurt. They are too young to hear about they are not good or they are not smart than others. They are easy to sad by that words. Those emotions are disadvantage for their development.
Last but not at least, when the teachers use grades to check their students, they can try to get a high score. But they just do that to defeat their friends. It will make a child become selfish. When teachers compare their students, it can make some students too confident or conceited and others are too unconfident. It effective in students’ mentality.
To consume up, first - grade students too young. So, we need to protect them. Don’t hurt them by your talking or your comments, especial their teachers. We don’t need grades to assess our children’s ability. I hope they can go to school and have fun instead of pressure or stress.
