Should airlines impose price floors and price ceilings for airfares Why or why not

Essay topics:

Should airlines impose price floors and price ceilings for airfares? Why or why not?

Developing of economics put Government takes some laws to manage. Nowadays, we can choose many types of vehicles to travel or go somewhere, like motorbike, car. Train. The airplane is one of the best ways to choose. In 2017, Viet Nam’s Government offered airlines should impose price floors and price ceilings for airfares. In my opinion, I think we should not do that.
Firstly, this is not benefits with the government. It doesn’t help them to manage marketing. It just makes Government become dictatorial in citizen’s eyes. This policy doesn’t encourage develop naturally. It influences to tax. Because price ceilings make airlines do not decide price higher and the government gets a big amount of tax from that.
Secondly, it influences negatively with Airlines. Price floors make them do not use price to attend their customers. On holidays, price ceilings are barriers and they can’t receive more benefits because of that. They must invest in different things to attend their customers. Somethings are not necessary will be invested, for instance, luxury furniture in the airplane. It wastes money. Airlines can lose their customers because of price floors. Although it’s a price floor, it’s still expensive with many people, and they will decide to choose another vehicle instead of an airplane.
Finally, it’s a disadvantage with consumers. When we don’t have price floors, airlines have to compete to have customers. Decreasing the price of airfares is an easy choice. Consumers will receive benefits from that. When Government imposes price floors and price ceilings for airfares, airlines can’t decrease price lower than prices floors. Consumers don’t have any benefits from that. What does happen if price ceilings and price floors are too high? For example, when we don’t use that policy, because of competition, we can buy an airfare with 1.000.000 dong. Now, when we have 6.000.000 dong for price ceilings and 2.000.000 dong for prices floors. Airlines give 2.000.000 dong for airfare, it’s still higher than before.
In conclusion, I think we should not impose price floors and price ceilings for airfares. It’s not good for Government, airlines or consumers. We should encourage healthy competition between airlines. They find a comfortable price in each position.
