Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to inform you that it would not be possible for me to join next week, as an assistant professor in your renowned institute.

I am glad to hear that I got selected to serve your college from among several other qualified candidates. it would be convenient for me to daily travel to my place if I join in your college, which otherwise do not happen when working in other city, as it is the only college offering Engineering course in our city.

According to the terms and conditions of my present job, I am obliged to give three-month notice before resigning from the post and the joining on the new position offered by you is due next week. Therefore, being a loyal employee, I could not resign from my position immediately.

if it does not affect your work, please allow me to join at this position after three months.

I look forward for consideration of my request.

Yours faithfully,

John Smith
