The chart below shows the changes in car ownership in Great britain between 1961 and 2001.

The graph above shows the data about owners and the number of cars in the family during the period from 1961 to 2001.
As can be seen from the chart the there is a steady downfall of the households, who do not own a car. At the same time the number of families who have more than 1 car is gradually rising during the 40 years period. The number of family cells who have only one car is also rising during the period from 1961 through 2001.
There is a negative correlation between the absence and the presence of cars in the households. As the number of closely related people with no cars falls, the number of households with one car or more than one car rises. However, as the peak of 50% of families with one vehicle was reached tin 1981, the following years were represented by the slow decrease in the number of people with 1 car.
In summary, the number of households with one car or more than 1 car grew during the period of 40 years, As the same time the percentage of people with no cars decreased till the point of 30% and came close to the number of households with more than 1 car.
