The chart illustrates total time of telephone communicate in the uk divided into three types namely local-fixed line, national and international-fixed line and mobiles between 1995 and 2002. It can be clearly seen from the chart that mobiles and national and international – fixed line become more and more common in uk.

during this period of time, local – fixed line are the most popular type in uk. The number of minutes local call stood at just over of 70 billion minutes, this figure was two time higher than national and international call then hit a peak of 90 billion minutes in 1999 before dropping steadily to 70 again in 2002.

By contrast, the mobile call minute number increased slightly from 1995 to 1999 before surging dramatically to approximately 40 billion minutes in 2002. In addition, the minutes communicate by national and international – fixed line had a steady rise during this period of time and compare to mobiles calls, the mobile minutes calls was always far behind.
