The bar charts give information about the weight assessments of inhabitants of Charlestown in two years 1955 and 2015.
Overall, it is clear that Charlestown saw a considerable fluctuation in weight measurements of population over the period shown. In addition, the proportion of people who were obese rose dramatically in 2015 compared with 1955 in all age groups.
On the one hand ,in both years, around 70% of people aged 20-29 had ideal weight assessments and the figure was the same with the 30-39 age groups.However, this rate of people who were between 60 and 69 years old was about 50% in 1955 and fell to about 5% in 2015. These percentages of inhabitants aged 40-49 and 50-59 fell by about 15%, 20% respectively from 1955 to 2015. The proportion of the 20-29 age group being underweight was approximately 72% in 1955 and declined to 20% in 2015. These figures almost fell to 0% in three age groups in 2015 ( 30-39, 40-49 and 50-59). The percentage of underweight people who were between 60 and 69 years old decreased from 40% to about 12% in 2015.
On the other hand, the proportions of five age groups who were obese were under 10% in 1995 and in 2015,this rate went up considerably. in 2015, the highest percentage of obese people was the 60-69 age group, at approximately 60%, these figures of four groups were 2%, 10%, 25% and 50% in order of increased age groups. Charlestown witnessed a growth in the figure for overweight inhabitants in all groups except for the 50-59 age group. The proportion of overweight people aged 50-59 declined from about 10% in 1955 to 5% in 2015.
