The diagrams below show the design for a wave-energy machine and its location.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

The first out of two diagrams provided explains the working principle of the wave-energy machine. The wave propagation in the direction shown increases the water level in the bottom chamber, which induces the airflow in the upward chamber indicated by a pink arrow. This air flows through the turbine connected with the electricity generator to generate electricity. There is also an arrangement for the air to flow back in the bottom chamber when the water level decreases.

The second image pictographically explains two options for the location of installation of the proposed wave energy machines and the pros and cons associated with each option. The wave energy machine installed near the shore has less installation cost as compared to the machine installed deeper into the ocean. The machine installed near coast provides low output due to small waves encountered by it, whereas the one deeper into the ocean encounters larger waves which help it to generate high output.
