The given chart illustrates the proportion of small, medium, and large corporations using social media for business aims from 2012 to 2016.
It is clear that there was an overall upward trend in the figure for social media usage in all three types of companies. That the percentage of large businesses having social media presence was significantly higher than that of the others is another striking feature.
Between 2012 and 2014 small businesses registered a steady increase of approximately 7%, followed by a marginal descent of 5% in the proportion of social media presence in the next year. A relatively similar pattern was recorded in the figure for medium companies. At the end of the surveyed period, the figures for small and medium corporations experienced noticeable recoveries, with the former reaching nearly 50% and the latter hitting around 53%.
Regarding large businesses, this type of company witnessed a period of stability at roughly 78%, which made it consistently ranked first in three years’ time starting from 2012. In a similar fashion as two other companies, the figure for the large ones fell by nearly a third in 2015, then increasing substantially to about 80%.
