The table illustrates reasons about why UK people travelled to different places between the years 1994 and 1998. The second chart gives information about where they have travelled.

Overall, most of the UK travellers visited western Europe, while very few people travelled to North America and other areas. Holiday is the prime reason why people have travelled abroad.

In 1994, 22072 people visited foreign nation in which three-quarters accounted for holiday reason. Business travellers and visits to friends and relatives are followed by holiday travellers, which accounted for 3155 and 2689 travellers respectively. Despite falling to 21610 total travellers in 1995, the figure increased considerably till the end of the period. Furthermore, travellers accounted for remaining reasons except for other reasons almost followed the same pattern as the total travellers figure. Finally, people travelling for other reasons have increased from 896 in 1995 to 1054 in 1997, before falling to 990 in 1998.

In addition to this, Western Europe hosted most of the travellers from the UK in all the years with almost 90% of total people. In contrast, other areas and North America hosted the remaining 10% of people with almost below 2500 people combined in all the years.
