About 35 million, passenger travelled by train in 2000 which gradually increased to around 45 million in 2002. Number of people using railways rose upto 48 million in 2005 which was the highest figures compared to all years. There was constant fluctuation in number of passengers which again reached to same figure as in 2002 in 2009.
In 2002, 92 % train were punctual and percentage of train running on time rose by 4% and reached 96% in 2004. There was sudden drop in punctuality of train which declined to 92% in 2006. For two years, (2008 and 2009) train did not state or arrive late by approximately 97%. Train was least punctual in 2002 and 2006 in comparison to all given years.
To sum up, both the number of passengers using railways and percentage of train punctuality was in fluctuating trend between 2000 to 2009.
