A glance at the graph provided reveals the ratio of male and female teaching staff in different departments of a major university in 2012.
Having looked at the chart it is clear that men are dominating to the engineering department by a vast majority, while the case is reverse in education department. In engineering department, there are nearly 85% male teachers, while other gender is only around 15%. In education, female teachers are around three quarter and male are only one quarter. The pattern is same in science and arts department. In science, male are higher than female instructors, 65% male and 35% women. Arts department having around 55% female teachers , were female dominating department. Business and law both were having male teachers in majority. The numbers were 65% in business and 60% in law for male academic staff. However, medicine department experienced almost equal number of male and female professors.
To sum up, most departments of the university stayed male teachers dominated, while in a few departments, the number of women professors were higher than male professors.
