The table below shows the results of a survey of the average number of cars per hour using three suburban roads during working hours in a ten-year pollution monitoring program. Traffic calming was introduced in Harper Lane at the beginning of 1999.

The table reports the number of cars passing three outskirt roads between 1993 and 2002 and depicts the influence of Traffic Calming into Harper Lane in 1999. This is measured by cars per hours using 10 pollution monitor programs during weekdays.
Overall, despite some fluctuations, the amount of traffic showed a steady increase during the period given. As the introducing of traffic calming, Harper Lane succeeded to support the least number of cars at the end of the period.
Initially, the Great York Way was the busiest road, accounting as much 600 cars per hours, and for the first half of the period, the figure for the similar road fluctuated with declining slightly as an overall trend. Long Lane following the same trend increased almost double from 1993 figure by 300 cars per hour. Although the least car passed the Harper Lane in 1993, the road then experienced a dramatic increase, reaching 915 cars per hours as the highest level in 1998.
By early 1999, implementing traffic calming had resulted in a dramatic decline of traffic in the Harper Lane as much a quarter from the previous year, but the car through the road grew slightly in 2001 onwards. While the program had no effect into the other roads, the amount of traffic for them continued to grow until remaining unchanged at the end of the period with 900 cars/hour for Great York Way and 1400 cars/hour for Long Lane.
