The given line charts compare changes in birth rates between two countries, the United States of America and China, from 1920 to 2000. Overall, birth rates in both nations fluctuated and fell down within the 80 year period.
To begin with, USA birth rate started at around 11 in 1920, fluctuated in the next 25 years before it went down dramatically to 5 in 1945. Although increased and reached a peak at 15 in 1950, the USA birth rate kept falling down for 50 years and reached a low of approximately 8 in 2000.
On the other side, China birth rate was at 11 in 1920, rose considerably in the following 15 years before it decreased significantly to 5 in 1935. Then, similar to the USA birth rate, it jumped significantly from 5 to 20 in 1950 but then took a nosedive to about 8 in 1955. After that, the China birth rate deteriorated continuously for a half decade and ended up at around 2 in the final year.
