Dear Mr. Samson,
I am writing to inform you that I will be unable to start my new job at your office as a Procurement Expert from the day stipulated in our agreement. my new contract is effective from 1 september 2019 , however, my commitments on the previous project will make it unfeasible.
As you know the program for which I was working as a consultant previously was approaching completion and it was not an ideal time for them to lose a member of staff who had seen the project through almost to the end. Since, there were some outstanding tasks left to be done on the project, my former employer has requested me to provide assistance in completing them. it might take me a week's time to provide them with my support for the preparation of project completion Report. Moreover, I have also been asked to stay one more week with the team to oversee the commissioning after hand-over of the construction works on 9 september 2019.
I would therefore request you to consider my exceptional circumstance and allow me to assume my role at work only from 20 May 2019.
