Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to show dissatisfaction over the state government's decision to implement large-scale changes to the janakpur airport and turn it into one of the central hubs for air transportation in the region. Personally, I believe this will do more harm than good.

I am a native of janakpur and I am located within 3 miles of this airport. In fact the runway is visible from the roof of my house and looking at the take-offs and landings in the morning and evening has become a routine activity.

You are already aware that this airport lies in a protected area and making any plans for its extension will result into substantial removal of vegetation. Moreover, the surrounding forest area has a rich biodiversity with some unique flora and fauna. In fact, it is the only habitat of some extinct animal species like Panda in Nepal.

Enlarging the infrastructure and upscaling the facilities is not recommendable because the works will endanger the future of many species. Moreover, the tribal community who dwell in the lush green forest will be displaced. What's more, the monuments in the city will have to face the pollution from the increased number of vehicles transiting to the airport everyday once the plan goes ahead and changes are made.

I hope you will publish an editorial on the subject and appreciate my concern.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,
Ram
