Dear Mr Thomas,
I am writing regarding a week-long leave from work that I will need because of an emergency. I will, though have Mr Shyam taking interim charge of my responsibilities till I arrive.
As you know, my father has been a chronic asthma patient and recently his physical condition has deteriorated further. He was admitted in the hospital yesterday and the doctor has suggested he will not be discharged until his condition gets stable. As my wife and children are on a holiday to the USA, I am the only one left here to take care of him. It seems he might need to stay there for at least a week. Even if it takes longer, an alternative arrangement will be planned to look after him and I will be back in the office on Monday 8 september.
I am aware that we will be having many clients at our office to discuss about the progress at the work on their projects. Mr Shyam who is on a leave from the work at the moment has agreed to attend to my duties while I will be on a week off from work. I would be, therefore, grateful if you can grant me a leave from september 1 to september 8.
