Dear Sir,
I am writing to apologize for not being able to return the library books on time as I had to rush to the hospital to take care of my sick grandmother. Allow me to explain the situation in detail.
To elucidate my grandmother lives alone in Bristol therefore from time to time I need to visit her to keep a check on her health. Unfortunately, last weekend I received a call from the hospital stating that she had fallen sick due to food poisoning, therefore, hospital staff required a presence of the immediate family member. Since my father was travelling at the same time, therefore, I needed to travel immediately to Bristol to take care of my ailing grandmother. I am aware that as per the policy the books borrowed from the library need to be returned within a week hence I would like to apologize for not being able to return the books on time.
Lastly, I would be returning back to my hometown tomorrow, therefore, I would be able to return the books first thing in the morning. Once again I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
