You have been invited to attend an interview for a place studying a course in a college. Unfortunately because of a previous appointment you cannot come at the time they wish.
Write a letter to the admissions tutor and explain your position. Apologise and offer to come on another day or later the same day. Ask also how long the interview will be and whether there will be any tests during it.
You do NOT need to write your own address.

Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter in response to the invitation to an interview, at your esteemed institution. Although I am delighted to have qualified for a scheduled interview day after tomorrow, I regret to inform you that it seems difficult for me to attend it.
I have diligently worked towards this educational opportunity and would not want to let it pass. However, I have an ailing sister, suffering from terminal cancer. I am often needed to accompany her for various medical tests. The date and timing of the medical appointment and the interview are clashing.
I am available post 4 p.m. on the same day or the following Thursday. Preferably, during mid-day hours. These are a traumatic time for my family and I need to be there to support them. I hope you understand and will cooperate with me.
I would also like to know if I’m required to carry any writing material or need to prepare for any on the spot assignment. I would be very grateful if you could also inform me about the duration of the interview so that I can make prior arrangements for my sister, while I am away.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. I would appreciate if you could take the necessary steps to reschedule the interview and inform me about the same. I would like to express my grievance for being unavailable on the interview date mentioned in the invitation. I will be highly obliged if you could consider this a special case.
