Dear Sir,
I am writing concerning the plan to close down the sports and leisure centre in our neighborhood in order to cut the government expenditure. As you know that this is the only sports and recreational centre we have in the neighborhood, closing it down would greatly affect the community negatively because families and young people make use of this public facility regularly.
Let me explain the situation in detail. Most families and people of all ages use the centre everyday for physical exercise such as jogging, cycling and brisk walking. The centre also serves as the only spacious venue available for social events such as birthday and wedding anniversary celebration.
Therefore, closing it down would affect the social development and healthy lifestyle of the local people as there will be no alternative place for physical exercise and social events . Instead of closing it down completely , I would be better if fee can be charged for using the centre for social events in order to cover the cost for running the centre.
