Many people are living in foreign countries nowadays. While some argue that living in a nation where you must speak a foreign language can result in serious social and practical problems, I partly agree with this view and believe that most of these problems are not serious.
Admittedly, some social and practical problems may occur when people are living in a foreign country where you have to speak a foreign language. The most serious problem is that one may find it difficult to fit in the local culture, which means that local people do not see him or her as a member of their community and refuse to share useful information. This often happens when people can not speak the language like a native or have a different appearance. As a result, this would put pressure on your work and daily life. Moreover, as foreigners are not accepted by local residents, they tend to form their own community with cultures that are different from that country. This means that there are many communities with various or even conflict cultures, which possibly leads to social instability and a higher crime rate.
On the other hand, the aforementioned problems can be solved or alleviated before they become too serious. By enforcing non-discriminative laws and policies, governments can build a friendly environment for foreigners. For example, encouraging companies to offer equal job opportunities for both local residents and foreigners is an effective way to reduce problems caused by unsatisfied foreigners. In addition, foreigners ought to respect local cultures and make their contributions to society. If someone helps the local community, donating to a local charity, for example, people will appreciate him or her regardless of his or her nationality.
To conclude, while I agree that some social and practical problems may occur when people live in a country where they have to speak a foreign language, I do not think these problems are serious since they can be solved properly.
