News stories on TV and in newspapers are often accompanied by pictures. Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words. What is your opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

It is believed by some people that images presented along with the news stories on TV and newspapers are more persuasive as compared to the words. The statement carries much weight and there is not much concrete evidence available to suggest otherwise.

It can be said without any shadow of doubt that nowadays people can access to news stories from number of different media channels that includes online social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter. The life has become extremely fast and busy and the news can be accessed from the click of a button. People no longer prefer to read long texts and want to get precise and succinct information in the form of pictures without spending much time on single piece of information. For example, one piece of evidence to support this argument can be observed by how all the major news channels when broadcasting any news update on twitter mostly tweet with the pictures as any tweet without pictures generally do not engage much audience.

It has become a very common trend to present any news information along with an attractive or relevant photograph to attract the spectators. From the point of view of the public, people are occupied with their daily work and personal routines and want to access as much as news updates in the shortest amount of time possible without reading the detailed wordings. The only people who normally tend to read the full text news are the people for whom the news is directly relevant such as the news analysts or journalism students.

In conclusion, it is true that visualised news stories are much more effective than the one with plain texts as general public is not much concerned about nitty-gritty of the wording used as long as the main essence of the information is clear from the pictures with summarised points.
