Some people think professors have a great impact on students thinking and cognitive capacity. However, in my opinion I do not agree with this and think that friends have a higher impact on a student’s (students) life for the following three reasons.
First of all, friends spend a lot more time with students in life as compared to a professor. For example, when I was 8 years old my parents bought a new computer for me to learn new things. My school had a computer class but as the computers were new to the professor itself she found it difficult to understand let alone teach us. My friend was a computer genie and he taught me how to use paint and a lot of other stuffs. If he wouldn’t have taught me paint I wouldn't be such a good designer I am today as that was where my designing journey started. Thus, in my opinion I feel students are more prejudice while learning about new technology towards their friends rather than their teachers.
Secondly, friends being of the same age group gives a familarity to the students and they spend a lot of time together. For example, if the teacher is teaching something or trying to talk about some example the professor would find it difficult to connect to the students as they are of different age groups and they haven't have had enough time with the students to learn the likes or dislikes of the students. The students spend a lot more time with friends that includes in school and even outside schools socially teachers don't have that comfort. Therefore, it is difficult for teachers to leave an impression by their idealogies on students.
Finally, the students have a tendency to be competitive to their friends. For example, while playing some game or even while studying the student would prefer if he could do it with a friend rather than with a teacher. Friends have similar cognitive ability and similar or close strength that is able to be matched by the students as compared to the professor.
In conclusion, because friends gives a sense of familarity and spend a lot of time with the students, they can influence the students more than a professor can do
