Other high school teachers spend most of class time on discussion and projects that students are highly involved in and exchange their ideas Which of these two approaches do you think is more effective for student learning and why?

Classes where students engage a lot of discussion and classes where teacher does most of the talking each have their own advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, classes with a lot of discussion and projects are better than those without. I feel this way for a couple of reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.

To begin with, I feel that classes where I have the opportunity to speak help me to develop my intellectual abilities. Classes, where the teacher does all of the talking,<span class="hiddenSuggestion" pre="does "></span> are very passive, in my opinion. They mostly involve memorization of facts and details and do not help students in the long run. On the other hand, Classes involve a lot of debates and interaction create very intelligent students. For example, my science teacher in high school has a significant impact on my life. Since we were free to participate in debate and discussion, my way of thinking about the world changed dramatically. The cut and thrust the debates helped me consider where are my beliefs came from and if they were actually true or not. I was required to listen to the opinions of others, so I was a more open-minded person after the class finished. I believe that I would not develop in this way by just listening to lectures and taking notes. This example demonstrates how valuable discussion-based classes can be.

In addition, Classes involve a lot of discussion help students to develop the skills necessary to work in a group. A large number of freshman students arrive at university very shy and unable to communicate well. However, if students practice by participating in discussions, they will develop their communicating skills and even they can excel in their future career. My older brother's experience demonstrates that this is true. When he started high school, he was a very introverted person and he did not enjoy either communicating or working with others. However, after four years of participating in debates and presentations and discussions, he became a more confident person. As a result, when he started his career he excelled in group work and was seen by his co-workers and supervisors as a natural leader. He promoted very quickly and advanced through the rank of his company. Without participating in discussion with his teachers and classmates he would not develop the skills necessary to succeed in this way.

To wrap it up, I strongly feel that classes which are centered on discussions between teachers and students are preferable to those that the teacher does all the talking. This is because such classes help students to develop academically and because they teach students the skills that they need to find success in the future.
