Some people like to record their life by sharing pictures and other information on social networking sites. Others keep this information to themselves and never share it online. Which do you prefer?

The world is becoming increasingly smaller and closer with the development of information technology. With the help of social platform such as Facebook and Twitter, it only takes some finger touches on the screen to associate people all over the world. Many people doubt if this trend of globalization is a boon or bane. But before a quick judgment on that grand argument, we should consider a more practical issue, whether or not we should participate in the social platform actively and post our photos and information on those sites? I believe we should do so. My reasons are listed as follows.

To begin with, it is a good way to record your life. Nowadays everybody tends to be too busy on his/her commitments: students study hard to get a grade to get employed; workers work day and night to win a promotion opportunity; parents spend huge amount of time on taking care of their children. We are so occupied that all these hassles in our lives even make us forget the real essence of our lives and the very crucial question like "who we are and where we are going". Thus, social platform offers us great opportunities to slow sown our paces, to forget all the anxious uncertainty in the future and focus on the pleasure of the moment. It reminds us of the pleasure of living if we post our recent photos regularly on the websites. When we feel exhausted one day, we may stop our work for a moment, read all the threads we posted before, it would be a encouraging thing and could definitely make us feel refreshing and promote our morale.

Additionally, it could bring more opportunities for us if we express ourselves positively online. First, we can make friends through these social platforms. To keep in touch with friends, it is always necessary to post some photos and share some new information with others. The friendship can even cross the geographical and cultural barrier. Personally, I maintain friendship with my Canadian friends I made in my exchange term to University of Toronto by updating my photos on Facebook. It is really fun to share pictures with people around the world and it always makes me delighted to read comments and communicate with them. Second, we can even get working opportunities if we are lucky enough. For instance, last year my brother posted his application for a part-time job on Twitter, soon his friends recommended him to many interesting jobs. As you can see, participating in online photo and information sharing can really facilitates job finding process a lot as well.

Admittedly, some people may point out that we may leak some important information online and it would be a waste of time to indulge ourselves in these virtual realities. For the first part of the argument, it is true that we take some risks to post our private information, but I believe the reputation of big companies that they will strive to protect our information security. Plus, the technology development could help at least alleviate the problems in the future. As for the second part, it makes no sense to deny the use of online social platform simply because we may use it excessively. I maintain that as long as we can control the time and frequency of the use of those social APPs, the advantages above largely outweigh the disadvantages.

All in all, I prefer to share my photos, my feelings and my thoughts online. It helps us record our lives, thus keeping track of our growth; it offers us opportunities to open ourselves to some new people, new ideas and even great chances.
