Some students prefer classes with frequent discussions between the professor and the students with almost no lecture. Other students prefer classes with many lectures and almost no discussion. Which do you prefer?

Some people say that the professor should give lectures without many discussions with students. However, there are many students who prefer the frequent discissions with almost no lectures with their professors. In my opinion, the professors should have more discussions with their students to get many benefits.
To begin with, for students, having discussion during classes can be a way to learn their subjects unconsciously. Qualified professors can use the discussion as a method to give an opportunity of self-learning to their students. Through many discussions, people can experience both positive and negative aspects of many topics. For example, when I was in my school years at university learning rehabilitation, I took a class about posture analysis. In the classroom, I sat in comfortable position leaning my back against my chair. Professor gave me a question as soon as he started his lecture. He asked me that is there a positive effect if he sit in a chair in the same position with me. I answered him that this posture makes me feel more comfortable compared to rigid position. Then he asked me about positive effects of rigid sitting position. I tried my best to give him an answer. Our discussion continued for a relatively long time and other students gave their interests to me and my professor. After I finished the conversation with him, I realized that he intentionally started this discussion to teach how to figure out the relation between bad position and lumbar curve of people. He perfectly gave his lecture to me and my classmates without boring handouts or presentations.
Second, discussion is helpful for students to understand their majors. Most of majors hold the most difficult subject among others such as human anatomy of kinesiology. Understanding that subject by reading books and having lectures is almost impossible to people. In this circumstance, having discussion with professor will give a solution to solve the problem. In my university, many professors used a teaching method which is called ‘red-man’. The one who selected as a red man have to deny every opinion of his classmates. Therefore, professors most likely played that role in their lecture. Since many professors gave their word that they will give A+ to the student who succeed to make an undeniable opinion, students tried hard to understand the most difficult subject among their courses and this process significantly helped the students to get better knowledge about their majors. In other words, the professors stimulated eagerness of the students about their subjects through the discussions in their classes.
In conclusion, having discussion in the classes by professors not only stimulate students to study hard but also can teach students about their subjects unconsciously. Therefore, I assert that professors should have more discussions with their students.
