As far as I concern, People have been debating the pros and cons of the statement that working for long hours with high pay or short hours with less pay. For me, Family always comes first over money. From My personal view point, I strongly agree to work fewer hours and spend more time with my dear ones. for the following two rationales.
First of all, more time will give you an opportunity to build up strong relationship with your family and friends. As you have have more time to spend with the close people, you will get an opportunity to understand them better which makes your relationship stronger. Take my personal example to illustrate this, I remember when I was dating my husband few years ago, I was doing part-time job and we had so much time to spend together mostly on weekdays after the work. we went for the dinner, we had visited different places that helped us to understand each other better and that way we had true trust able strong bond between both of us which finally converted to life long married couple relations.
The another reason is that working fewer hours gives you a lot of time to do extra activities. If you have an extra time during a day after the work, you can use that time doing house hold chores, taking kids to the tutoring or sports. To illustrate this, I am going to give my personal example. I used to work very long hours for few months and I did not have a time for anything. Finally I started working short hours for few days, that gives me so much extra time to take care all house hold stuff and Now I personally making sure about my son's tutoring and his football game. That way It helped me to improve overall performance.
All in all, Working for short hours needs to be considered positively in terms of promoting to build up strong relationship with family and also help to improve overall performance. In general, I wholeheartedly believe that the very first thing we should do now is to admit the importance of spending time with family members as the key to open the door of our bleak future.
