In 1957 a European silver coin dating to the eleventh century was discovered at a Native American archaeological site in the state of Maine in the United States. Many people believed the coin had been originally brought to North America by European explor

Both texts deal with the question that whether or not the European silver coin as brought by a group of the European travelers, the Norse into the United States thousand years ago. The text clearly states that many facts prove that it wasn't brought by the Norse itself, but just attributed to them because of its origin. In the lecture, however, the professor gives proofs why it is, in fact, a genuine European coin.
The first contradicting fact is the extended distance from the Norse's Canadian settlement to the state of Maine. The coin has been found in the Native American site which is located in Maine. The place is unbelievably further away from eastern Canada as more than a thousand kilometers. In the lecture, it is said that Native American explores were prone to obtaining other local subjects for its abnormality while traveling across the states.
Regarding this reasonable fact, not only coin brought in but also there are actually a lot of goods that are brought in the dominant ones.
Another problem with the silver coin is that the no other coin has not been discovered in the Norse's inhabitant. No coins no ones. Therefore, the Norse brought none of the European coins with them into their Northern American settlements. But this problem could be explained by now. The Norse didn't have any lasting place at the time in that providing, they packed in all of the silver coins with them when coming back to their home.
The third aspect which let archaeologists wonder about the origins of the coin is the fact, that the coins were treated as a valuable jewelry by the ancients of Native American when the Norse introduced European coins instead of just one silver rounded substance. Because of its beauty and attractive appearance.
