The listening lecture totally opposes to the reading passage in whether it is beneficial to have such biotechnology for growing broccoli. To begin with, the reading says that this new broccoli can be planted in other regions so people no longer need to pay many money for transporting it. However, the listening argues that this is incorrect. This broccoli has a low production rates, so the price is still very high and friendly to people. As a result, the money people save on transporting will counter balance with the high price of broccoli. In other words, this new kind of broccoli will not be beneficial for local people to buy.

In addition, the reading indicates that this new broccoli is made in a fairly traditional form of biotechnology, not by genetically modification, such as corns. Whereas, the listening implies that the new broccoli are producing buy a large company call Monsanto, a company who widely use genetically modification. Therefore, people will not likely to accept it because they know this company sell genetically modification foods.

lastly, while the reading asserts that this new broccoli is fresher and more nutritional value, the listening supports that it is true this kind of broccoli contain some nutrients, but other vegetables also have these nutrients. Moreover, this new broccoli only grow in the summer, but others vegetables grow in anytime in the year. As a result, there are no reason for people to buy this kind of broccoli.
