policy in which people are in charge to pay fee

Essay topics:

policy in which people are in charge to pay fee

Both the reading and lecture are discussing a policy in which people are in charge to pay the admission fee to use national parks in the US. The author states that fees should be abolished in which everyone can enter the parks for free. However, the lecturer refutes the idea and believes that there are some advantages to this policy.
While the reading attributes that forcing people to pay the fee for camping in the park is against their right, and it leads to discouraging people from visiting them, the professor contrasts the argument by asserting that it actually encourages people to visit the not famous parks. In addition, the admission fee can be used for updating facilities or even paying employee salaries. If we eliminate the fee, the government makes up it by increasing the taxes and in that case, there will be more pressure on people.
The next point brought up is that asking the people to pay their fee is the time-consuming process. Long lines occur at the entrance of the park as well as a lot of complaints. Therefore, park staffs are not able to work elsewhere. Yet the lecturer believes by ruling this policy, they can use the money to improve services of the park and its safety.
